January 27, 2014
Attendees representing 50+ camps attended the 2014 Christian Camp Leader's Conference in Sevierville, Tennessee, January 27-30. They had an opportunity to hear John Jackson, Global Archery Products Founder/CEO, speak on Tuesday, January 28, about the benefits and unique learning opportunities of including Archery Tag® and SAFE Archery at their camps. Discussion points included:
- Offering archery activities during summer camps and retreats could benefit camps and increase the interest of potential campers due to soaring archery trends
- How these games can provide fun and safe visual examples to solidify biblical lessons, such as Ephesians 6:10-17 (armor of God), 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (using the spiritual weapons that God has given us), and Hebrews 12:1-2 (hitting the mark) using the non-lethal foam-tipped arrow
- Adaptability both as an indoor and outdoor sport that is easily portable so camp leaders don't have to worry about the weather
- Provides a fun, safe alternative for an interactive sport other than paintball while engaging more muscles and exercise than laser tag
- How different ages, from elementary kids and teens at summer camps to adults and even grandparents at retreats, can enjoy these archery activities regardless of their skill level
- Puts a fun twist on dodgeball and tag game rules kids and adults already love and are familiar with, making it easier to play the game with confidence
- Offers a way to promote teambuilding and critical thinking for life skills through adventurous play
- Demonstration of both Archery Tag® bows and arrows as well as SAFE Archery® equipment including the Hoverball® Archery Target
