Maywood Christian Camp
Nestled on more than 80 acres of land in northwest Alabama, Maywood Christian Camp operates nine weeks throughout the summer of each year. Each week of camp is directed by a man or group of men who have a great deal of love for youth and Christian camping. These men select a dedicated group of counselors and other support staff to operate the week of camp. Everyone works hard to help the campers have fun and, more importantly, encourage, motivate, and teach them to be better Christian young people. There are LOTS of things to do during a week at Maywood Christian Camp, including swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, archery tag, hiking, crafts, basketball, softball, ultimate frisbee, disc golf and beach volleyball. The staff are always looking for more creative ideas to help the campers have fun while growing closer to God. We have more than a dozen covered teaching stations scattered around the camp for daily Bible classes, an amphitheater in the woods where evening devotionals can be held around a camp fire, and a pavilion that can seat more than 300 for evening worship services and assemblies. Campers and staff come from all over the country each year. Some have attended at least one week each summer since its beginning or from the very earliest age they could attend. Thousands have obeyed the Gospel, learned to pray, preach and know what real Christian association is. Some have even found a lifetime companion among the fellow campers. Maywood Christian Camp is overseen by a board of trustees. All are dedicated members of the Church of Christ with a love for helping kids grow closer to God through Christian camping.
